 William Morris Petition Minimize
Subject: Online petition to support William Morris Gallery
http://www.petitiononline.com/savewmg/petition.html

This is to alert all of you who care about and support your local historic and cultural sites, that the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow (London) is in imminent danger of both severely curtailed opening hours and complete elimination of curatorial staff.  Opened in 1950, the Gallery is situated in the childhood home of William Morris, and also contains one of the largest and most important collections of William Morris material in the world.  The curators have worked tirelessly to interpret the collections, organize special on-site exhibitions, and assist scholars and members of the general public - their valuable expertise is absolutely necessary to the ongoing success of the museum and its educational programs.

See below for a link to a website with up-to-date news on the gallery's situation and detailed information on cutbacks.  The Waltham Forest Council has already met to ratify cuts to staff and visiting hours - it is only a matter of time before these will go into effect, so please add your voice to the growing protest to help to prevent this tragedy. Click on the link above to sign an online petition, and please forward the link and/or this email to anyone you know who might support this cause.
